Lonato (Brescia – Italy). The 23rd Andrea Margutti Trophy is all set and ready on the South Garda International Circuit. The Trophy is organized by Parma Karting and, for the first time, the venue of this milestone of karting is the Northern Italian circuit. The Trophy was born in 1990 in memory of the young Andrea Margutti, who died in 1989 during the time trials of another milestone of karting, the Trofeo delle Industrie.
This year’s edition presents itself with all the four categories sold out: 60 Mini, KF3, KF2 and KZ2. The number of drivers is astonishing: 245 from 33 different countries. Besides a good number of Italian drivers, most of the entrants (around 60%) are represented by foreign drivers coming from all around the world. This means that the value of the Trophy is universally recognized and that its appeal for the international karting has not ceased to grow. Besides Italy, drivers come from Austria, Belgium, Brazil, Croatia, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Japan, UK, Greece, India, Indonesia, Ireland, Liechtenstein, Malaysia, Monaco, Norway the Netherlands, Poland, Romania, Russia, Singapore, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, the USA, Sweden, Switzerland, Thailand and Ukraine.
There are many top drivers in all the categories, from the junior ones to the more professional KF2 and KZ2, where there will be interesting duels for the top positions of the drivers who have already showed their skill in this initial part of the season in the first international races, such as the Winter Cup of Lonato and the first two rounds of the WSK Master Series.
Winning the Andrea Margutti Trophy has always been an important step for the future of any driver. Among the protagonists of the past editions there are several names that have then achieved great results, even in Formula 1: Giancarlo Fisichella, Jarno Trulli, Robert Kubica, Nico Rosberg, Lewis Hamilton, Giancarlo Fisichella, Jenson Button, Tonio Liuzzi, Fernando Alonso, Kimi Raikkonen, Pastor Maldonado, and many other stars of car racing such as Thomas Biagi and Giorgio Pantano.
