The 34th Andrea Margutti Trophy organized by Parma Motorsport is at the starting blocks at the South Garda Karting. 242 drivers of MINI, OKJ, KZ2, X30 Junior and X30 Senior are expected on the track.
The first free practice sessions at the South Garda Karting in Lonato opened the long weekend of the 34th Margutti Trophy, the historic event in memory of the young Andrea Margutti, which is presented with the usual organization of Parma Motorsport. The event is included in the FIA Karting international calendar with validity for the “International Karting Ranking”.
It is a 34th edition once again of a high level, both in terms of the quantity and quality of the drivers, with 242 entries from 37 countries in the MINI, OKJ, KZ2, X30 Junior and X30 Senior categories. The qualifying practice and the first heats will begin on Friday, March 17, with heats on Saturday and the final phase on Sunday, March 19, streamed live on the website www.trofeomargutti.com.
MINI – A qualified participation among the youngsters.
The participation in the MINI category is important and is divided into two age groups from 8 to 10 years for MINI Gr.3 Under 10 and from 10 to 12 years for MINI Gr.3, with about 100 drivers and the presence of the main protagonists of this early season. In the MINI Under 10, among the most competitive are the Team Driver Oleksandr Legenkyi, Achille Rea with CRG Racing Team, Edoardo Mario Sulpizio with TK Driver Academy, the son of art Daniel Hakkinen, son of the former Finnish Formula 1 champion, racing with the BabyRace team, which also fields the fast Albert Tamm among the others.
In the MINI Gr.3, there is a group of young drivers who are particularly competitive, such as the Australian William Calleja and the Turkish Iskender Zulfikari among the most competitive young drivers racing with BabyRace, as well as the Spaniard Bosco Arias Chavarri with the Team Driver together with his teammate Bogdan Cosma-Cristofor, then Vladimir Ivannikov and Manuel Miguez Gayoso with the Gamoto Team, Dean Hoogendoorn with the Kidix team which also fields Gianmatteo Rousseau, the Canadian Ilie Crisan Cristan with the Tony Kart Racing Team, the English Noah Baglin with IKart. Mika Hakkinen’s eldest daughter, the young Ella, is also racing in this category.
KZ2 – A great challenge between Bertuca and Maragliano is ahead.
The KZ2 category features 50 of the most competitive drivers, including the young Cristian Bertuca racing for the KCS team and among the most successful drivers in the early part of the season. He will be renewing his challenge against Alex Maragliano with Maranello Kart, as well as Kristian Habulin with TB Kart, who is one of the most loyal drivers in the Andrea Margutti Trophy. Other notable drivers include Alessio Piccini with the Tribe One team and of course, Davide Forè with Renda Motorsport, who already won the Trophy in 2015. Among the younger drivers, we can expect to see impressive performances from Samuele Leopardi with Zanchi Motorsport and Maxim Rehm with Leclerc by Lennox Racing.
OKJ – A lot of emerging talents.
In OK-Junior, many emerging young talents are capable of fighting for victory, coming from various European countries. There is an excellent line-up of 34 drivers, among whom David Cosma Cristofor stands out with KR Motorsport. Renowned teams such as Ward Racing, Energy Corse, and TB Racing Team are present, as well as many teams from Eastern European countries. NGM Motorsport is also on the starting grid with the glorious Kalì Kart chassis driven by Giovanni Toso.
X30 – Junior and Senior with the specialists of the single-make categories.
The participation is also very good in the two categories with the single-make Iame engine, as 26 drivers will contest X30 Junior and 35 X30 Senior. Among the favorites in the X30 Junior are Filippo Sala, who is returning with Team Driver, along with Filippo Pancotti and Tiziano Kuzhnini, followed by Riccardo Ferrari with M2 Racing, Davide Mizzoni with Italcorse and Fabio Reale with LA Motorsport.
In X30 Senior, Danny Carenini will compete with Energy Corse. He won the last edition of the Trofeo Andrea Margutti. The winner of the 2021 Trophy Cristian Comanducci will be among the fields of PRK, his teammate Federico Rossi will be present too, as Giacomo Maman, who is new to Senior with TB Kart, the Pole Bartosz Grzywacz with KGT Motorsport. Many other drivers are also ready to prove themselves.
